Human Rights Training for Civic Activism

Beneficiaries Description: Direct beneficiaries of the project are 4 individuals from Ombudsman office, Armenia CBOs/NGOs. Indirect beneficiaries of the project are community members, youth, and local government 

Project Area: Yerevan, Kiev

Project Goal: to enhance the capacity of 4 individuals with training experience from Armenia to increase the level of effective civic participation towards greater respect for human rights for all and improved accountability of local government providing follow up series of trainings to community based organizations, that Counterpart works currently with and JMF cooperates

Project Objectives:

  • To strengthen human rights based community development by enhancing the capacity of 4 individuals and to engage community-based and other appropriate organizations to enhance civic participation over the long term;
  • To increase the participation of marginalized groups in community development processes and decisions that affect them via providing tools to take common action and encouraging volunteerism and community mobilization;
  • To develop knowledge, skills and change attitude of 4 leaders in community-based organizations/ NGOs/ Ombudsman office via participation in regional Human Rights Training Session (HRTS) in March 2012, in Ukraine.
  • To share lessons learned and best practices on how to encourage civic participation in communities of the target countries, and the types of impact observed.
