Beneficiaries Description: The direct beneficiaries of the project will be the students of seven universities. At least 280 students, 40 from each university, will be directly involved in the project’s main activities: intra-university debate tournaments and TV debates. Indirect beneficiaries of the project are the other students and the staff of the seven universities, Yerkir Media studio “Azat Qaghaqaci” program audience.

Project Goal: to empower the university students and provide them an opportunity and space for civic participation and human rights culture development in Armenia via operation of university debate clubs and organization of structured TV debates on hot social, political and economic issues.

Project Objectives:

  • To enhance the knowledge and develop debating skills of at least 280 students from regional universities.
  • To raise interest and change the attitude toward the democratic processes in the country among the regional universities’ students.
  • To develop the research and public speaking skills of about 90-108 selected university students via preparation and participation in TV debates.
  • To contribute to the development of the culture of debate via mass media influence and support.
