On February 3, 10 and 13 more than 100 pupils and 10 teachers from Armavir, Dalarik, Echmiadzin, Qarakert, Lernagog, Metsamor and Sevan beneficiary schools of the Youth Engaged in Society 2013-2014 project were invited to a civic seminar at the OSCE office in Yerevan. The head of the democratization unit of the OSCE office in Yerevan, Oliver McCoy hosted them. During 1,5 hour meeting Mr. McCoy talked about the history, structure, goals and missions of the OSCE and the OSCE office in Yerevan.
The students as well as the teachers were very interested in a variety of topics discussed during these meetings like democratization process in Armenia, elections, Nagorno-Kharabagh conflict and the OSCE’s involvement in all these areas, etc. After discussions and question/answer sessions students watched some OSCE shot short clips on human rights, democracy, freedom of media, freedom of speech etc. Most of the students didn’t miss the opportunity to ask questions about the topics they were to prepare for the upcoming debate tournament.
Afterwards children had an opportunity to visit the OSCE library, where they were granted an access to all the resources available in the library.
