On October 23rd and 24th “Youth Engaged in Society 2013-2014” project beneficiaries /52 pupils and 11 teachers/ from Aparan, Shenavan, Talin, Mastara, Nerqin Bazmaberd, Gulaգarak, Urut, Sverdlov and Yerevan schools were invited to a civic seminar at the OSCE office in Yerevan. The head of the democratization unit of the OSCE office in Yerevan, Oliver McCoy hosted them. During 1,5 hour meeting Mr. McCoy talked about the history, structure, goals and mission of the OSCE and the OSCE office in Yerevan.
Students were very active and interested in the topic. Most of the topics discussed and questions asked by the students were about Nagorno-Karabakh issue and the OSCE Minsk group, elections in Armenia and the process of democratization and the OSCE’s involvement in these processes. After the discussions and question students watched some short clips about human rights, democracy, freedom of media, freedom of speech etc. made by OSCE office in Yerevan. Before leaving students and teachers visited the OSCE office library where they had an opportunity to take some books, brochures, notebooks etc.
