Disability Prevention Among Children and Outreach Clinics in Armenia - Phase III

Beneficiaries Description: Direct beneficiaries of the project are about 4,850 newborns, 700 disabled children (identified) and 10 trained doctors of the targeted regions. Indirect beneficiaries are the families of the newborns and disabled children.

Project Areas:  Vanadzor, Spitak & Stepanavan cities of Lori marz; Armavir & Echmiatsin cities of Armavir marz, and Eghegnadzor city of Vayots Dzor marz

Project Goal: To reduce DDH disability among children and to improve the quality of life of disabled children in Lori, Armavir & Vayots Dzor marzes of Armenia.

Project Objectives:

  1. By the end of 2012 to improve the knowledge and skills of 10 medical doctors (5 from Lori, 3 from Armavir & 2 from Vayots Dzor marzes) from targeted regions in prevention and management of DDH.
  2. By the end of 2012 to improve the quality of life of disabled children by conducting 4 outreach clinics for medical examination of disabled children of Lori, Armavir & Vayots Dzor marzes of Armenia.
  3. By the end of 2012 to improve technical capacities of 6 maternity homes of targeted regions by providing infant ultrasound screening tables.
